Small Class Sizes and Individualised Learning
Fieldstone’s small class sizes allow teachers to know each student well and respond to their individual needs. Instruction is differentiated to provide appropriate support and challenge, ensuring that students are engaged, confident, and progressing at their own pace. Where appropriate, students may access more advanced-level learning while continuing to build strong foundational skills.
The Cambridge Primary Programme
Fieldstone’s Kindergarten programme is grounded in the Cambridge Primary framework, beginning at Stage 1 in English, Mathematics, and Science. This internationally recognised curriculum provides a structured yet engaging approach to early learning, with an emphasis on understanding, inquiry, and skill development.
Students are supported in becoming confident, responsible, reflective, and innovative learners, while developing strong foundations that prepare them for future stages of the Cambridge and OSSD pathways.
Fieldstone is a designated Cambridge Showcase School for the 2024–2027 period, reflecting its implementation of the Cambridge framework from the early years onwards.
Character Counts! Programme
The Character Counts! programme supports the intentional development of positive character from an early age. Rooted in the Six Pillars of Character—respect, responsibility, caring, fairness, trustworthiness, and citizenship—the programme helps students practise positive behaviours in their daily school life.
In Kindergarten and the primary years, students work towards Bronze-level character pins through classroom experiences, guided reflection, and everyday interactions. Pins are earned over time and recognise consistent demonstration of good character, reinforcing personal responsibility, perseverance, and self-awareness alongside academic learning.
The House System: Community from the Start
From Kindergarten onwards, students are placed into one of Fieldstone’s Houses—Fox, Richler, Peterson, or Carr—creating a close-knit community across all grades. Mixed-age house groupings allow younger students to build relationships with older peers, learn from positive role models, and develop a strong sense of belonging within the school.
Arts, Music, Languages, and Physical Education
Kindergarten students engage in a broad range of specialist subjects, including Orff music, visual arts, physical education, and French. These programmes support creativity, physical development, coordination, and early language acquisition, contributing to a well-rounded educational experience.
Shakespeare and Language Development
Through early exposure to Shakespeare, students are introduced to rich language, rhythm, and dramatic expression in an age-appropriate way. Kindergarten students also have opportunities to participate in Shakespeare plays, allowing them to explore storytelling and performance through guided, collaborative experiences. This programme supports listening skills, vocabulary development, confidence in speaking, and an early appreciation for literature and dramatic performance.
